Greetings Isaac Haile Selassie in the name of our Lord & Saviour Jesus Christ, Ras Tafari.
So I first want to know how you got started in the music buisness, when did the interest for music come?

-First of all, I’m so humbled for you’re heartical questions and I will do my best to answer your questions from a heartical point of view.
Ta na yestilen en da min na chuw? ena dehi na Egzabhair Ymesgn be tam dahena negh

I believe I was born with love of music in me because when I look back how much music I played and how I started, I remember when I was in H.I.M.boarding school we used to have a man from Germany–his name was Helmut Hurt and he and his wife used to play guitar and sing camping songs and I was very interested in the guitar ever since, so I used to get up on the stage and insist they listen to my playing and singing and nobody wanted to listen to a guitar out of tune–that’s how I started music. Everything that could go wrong went wrong. My voice was not good at all but I never gave up .

What artist or artists gave inspiration to you and your music style, and ïs there any speciall artist that you would like to do music with?

- I love to sing and Holy Yared’s story inspired me to know how he became one of the first to write music– he wrote 5 great music books in the 5th century about 1000 years before European music. Even now the Ethiopian Orthodox church plays his music and chants. Helmut Hurt in H.I.M boarding school inspired me to play guitar. I used to like Indian music from watching all their films. Bob Marley inspired me at the time that I needed some help. When I felt like the whole world was against me, time was very rough. About 1977 I escaped from my country to Sudan without any proper documents, I couldn’t speak the language and I didn’t know the culture. When I heard Bob sing it gave me balance between my body and soul. He comforted my spirit with reggae music and I’ve never been the same since. I don’t have anybody in mind to play music with right now–I will play with anybody who is interested in my music.

When can we expect a new album from Isaac Haile Selassie?

-When the right time comes.

Seen, I was wondering what message you would like to get through to the people of the world?

-Message of love – we should really have to try to find a reason to love one another.
When all these man-made things come and take the love out of our body, it suck out all our love and becomes love of material things; like we love our home, cars clothes, etc. Our love for each other is out the window. It’s too bad but that is how I feel so I try my best to share unconditional love for everyone I know. It’s not easy but it’s good to try.

Let’s move on to the situation in Africa, people know of the starving and war and many other problems that Africans have to deal with every day.

What kind of changes would you like to see so that things would be better?

- My opinion is nobody wants to help Africa. They want to get rich from Africa because if there is anybody who wants to help Africa it would have been developed to the benefit of the African people, not the companies who claim they’re developing Africa but are really helping themselves. The weak needs help, not the strong.
If you want the world to change for the better everybody who wants change has to change starting from themselves. Instead of giving people fish, teach them HOW to fish–that will make them independent and help them to help themselves.

What can the people of the world do to help the people in Africa?

-People of the world–if they want to help Africa they have to be convinced by their heart to help not by countries or leaders or rock stars or preachers–all of them want something for themselves.

Now a thing that really interests a lot of people is that you had personal contact with H.I.M. Haile Selassie I as a child, would you like to describe that experience and how it changed you?

- He was my father. He provided my food, clothing, shelter and came to see us at least once a week. He was a humble, down-to-earth, no ego, great father for over 300 children. He was a man who wanted to do good deeds but it wasn’t something to talk about. Actions spoke louder than words. I’m one of the proofs of his actions. Nebes yemar, I have nothing but good to say about H.I.M.

Many artists are members of different branches in Rastafari like Bobo Ashanti and Twelve Tribe of Israel and i wonder if you are in a speciall “group”?

- Since you ask I’ll tell you but I never check if some one is this or that because it doesn’t mean anything to me. I have seen people say they are this and that and I found out they are not what they say they are, but I claim to be Ethiopian Orthodox Tewhedo Christian.

When did you realise that Rasta was a way of life for you?

-I think in 1977 when I heard Bob Marley’s music–”Get Up, Stand Up.”

Give Thanks for your time and that you wanted to spread the word to the people of Sweden, and we look forward to the day when you can come to Sweden and chant down Babylon. Do you have anything you would like to say to the people of Sweden?

- People of Sweden I love you all unconditionally and hope I see you soon. Bless you all forever. Again I give thanks for this opportunity.

Once again give thanks for your time. Jah Rastafari.
